    History :
The Ft Worth Trinity Lions has a proud history. PDG Fred Tramel is one of the few members who knows the history of this club. He was kind to provide me with a brief history of the Fort Worth Trinity Lions Club.

The Fort Worth Trinity Lions Club was chartered on June 30, 1990 with the following members: Johnny Bice, George Branum, Frank Dimicelli, Richard Dorothy, Weldon Farris, John Guthrie, Steve Hillard, Rick jara, Ron Jara, Larry Ludington, Frank Mascorro, Rodney Optiz, Greg Parish, Davis Peacock, Craig Spencer, Fred Tramel, Mike Tramel, and Richard Wylepski.

The following members are still active: Richard Dorothy, John Guthrie, Rodney Optiz, Greg Parish, Craig Spencer, and Fred Tramel.

It was on Christmas Eve 1989 when Rick Jara and Fred Tramel met for a social time and discussed an evening Lions Club on the Eastside of Fort Worth. At that time both of them were members of the Handley Meadowbrook Lions Club.

Rick was employed by his dad, Al Jara. Al was also a member of the Handley Meadowbrook Lions Club. Both dad and son could not be away from the office at the same time. So Rick was unable to attend every meeting.

Starting a new club was an excellent idea. It was the right thing to do. Plans were made and carried out to start a new Lions Club. Steve Hillard was an ex-Lion who joined this new club. He suggested the name and today we have the Fort Worth Trinity Lions Club.

Two other Lions, Bob Parker and Al Jara, worked toward starting this club. The combined efforts of all involved were significant to achieve this goal. It took six months to request a charter. The reason for waiting six months was because those involved wanted to be sure that they had committed members. They did not want to start and fail as soon as they started. They did not fail! The Fort Worth Lions Club is a small but strong club.

The Fort Worth Trinity Club was chartered and the members met at Smokey's Bar-B-Que on East Lancaster for the first six months. Rick Jara was the Charter President. Fred Tramel was the Secretary and Treasurer. Ron Jara was the Tail Twister. Frank Dimicelli was the First Vice-President.

Over the next few years, the Club met at different places. Eventually, the members came to the Woodhaven Country Club where we meet today.

After a couple of years Al Jara and Bob Parker transferred from the Handley Meadowbrook Club to the Fort Worth Trinity Club.

PDG Fred Tramel said that the Forth Worth Trinity Lions Club was at one time the most active Club on the District. At one time there were 42 members in this Club. We currently have 21 members. We are slowly rebuilding our Club - Fort Worth Trinity Lions Club.

MORE ON THIS LATER!

July 12, 2004 - We want to extend our deepest sympathy to Lion Emma Jara and her family as they mourn the death of her mother. Lion Emma is the wife of Past District Governor Al Jara. The funeral will be at Mount Olivet Funeral Home (Fort Worth)on Wednesday, July 14, at 11:30 A.M.

2004-2005 is set to be an exciting year. We have several prospective members.

Lion Bob Parker is the new Tail Twister and he is a twister. He fines everyone - left, right and center. I may even be fined for calling him a twister.

Our Club has a Club Pin. It is one of our achievements last year. We are selling for $3.00 each. You will like it. Lion Bob Parker has them.

We have new champions this year - Lion Craig Spencer and Lion Doug Haley. Their catch was 25 inches. Raun Deosarran was the runner up. His catch was 18 inches. I am still the champion for catching the most in 2003
